What’s It Like To Buy From You?

What’s It Like To Buy From You?

Guest Post By Mel McGee

What kind of shop is your website?  Is it the kind of shop where the assistant ignores you and you have to ask for help?  Is is a shop where you can quickly and easily find what you are looking for?  How about ‘checking out’? Do your customers leave your shop happy with their purchase or confused and disappointed?  Your website compares to a ‘real life’ buying experience in so many ways.  Let’s take a look at what it’s really like to buy from you:
1.  Is it easy for customers to find what they want? Don’t make it confusing or make them search around too much.  It’s too easy just to click off.
2.  Do you provide enough information? Think of all the questions and objections that a customer may have and address them in your copy or have a Frequently Asked Questions page
3.  Do you recommend other products or services? If you have a related product or service are you offering an ‘upsell’ before the customer makes their final decision?
4.  Is it easy to ‘check out?’ Make it clear how to buy and have a ‘buy now’ or ‘add to cart’ etc button clearly visible
5. Do you offer follow up customer service? Continue to communicate with your customers after the sale.  Make sure they are happy with their purchase and they will be more likely to buy from you again.
Because you are not seeing your customers face to face it’s even more important that you take the time to get your buying process right.  Test it yourself and ask others to test it for you if you need more feedback.  Sometimes a tweak here and there can make a difference.  Don’t lose business by confusing your customers – make it easy for them to buy from you.
