BaaBaby Baa’s Top Tips for travelling with children

The best tip my sister gave me before I travelled for the first time with my girls was to break the journey up into 30 minute sections. So for example a magazine or book for the first section (remember no electrical devices can be used on take off).  A paper and crayons for the second section, by which time the trolley should be on it’s way and provides an activity for another section of your journey.  If you are really lucky your little one will have a nap but make sure you have plenty of activities just in case. A trip to Pound Land is a great idea as you can often buy a few cheap items.  It doesn’t matter if you leave them on the plane or lose some of the bits. Plasticine might not seem like an obvious choice but it can be used quite neatly on the airplane tray.

Before going on our last holiday we realised  that our girls didn’t have many small toys so we started what is now known as the box of fun. We included toys from the front of magazines, dices, animals and much more packed into a small plastic tin with a lid. We now don’t go anywhere without our secret weapon.  It is also great for keeping them occupied when we are dining out.

The worst part of travelling with children for me is going through security but I promise you it does get better after that! Remember to empty juice cups and that other liquids such as yogurts can’t be taken through (this has caught me out a few times). Try not to take too much hand luggage and remember if you are taking a pushchair down to the departure gate you will need to empty and fold it when you go through security. Going through security causes lots of tears for my family due to my girls having to be separated from their beloved blankets.  We find a little packet of sweets resumes the status quo and allows us the time we need to sort ourselves back out.

Happy travelling and remember Bobo Buddies 3 in 1 travel toy make the perfect travel companion for your little explorer.
