“About 2,900 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the UK each year. Overall, 2 out of every 100 cancers diagnosed in women (2%) are cervical cancers. But it is the most common cancer in women under 35 years old.
Around 4 million women are invited for cervical screening each year in England. About 3 out of every 200 women screened have a high grade abnormality (1.5%). Because it is so easy to prevent by treating the abnormal cells in time we believe it is important for women to be aware of this and go for regular smear tests. That is why we want to remind you to call your GP and we will wave the shooting fee if you do.
