Our Baby wins Local Business Accelerator prize
St Neots – based Our Baby has been chosen as the winner of The Hunts Post`s Local Business Accelerator award.
The internet baby clothes and accessories store was started in October 2011 by Lorraine Saunders,who works around a full-time job to keep the business going.As the winner, Our Baby is entitled to a substantial allocation of free advertising space in The Hunt`s Post and the chance to win mentoring from Dragons Den star Deborah Meaden.
The judges panel, which included The Hunt`s Post Editor Andy Veale and Huntingdonshire Federation of Small Business chairman Malcom Lyons, were impressed with Our Baby`s growth plans for the next 12 months.
The home-based firm plans to add a new payment gateway and other features to its website www.cheapbabyclothes.uk.com, start shipping to europe,to use social media and increase revenue.
Lorraine said: Our Baby was put together on a small budget and we have kept all our costs under control. We started with £400 of stock and now hold around £7,000-worth of stock. This has been achieved as we invested everything back into Our Baby. With opening our business to export to Europe, we feel this will grow Our Baby and invest.
Lorraine`s long-term goal is for Our Baby to become a large internet business, employing staff from the area.
