Rewind the clock 2 years. Mariama was a newborn baby whose mother had sadly passed away and whose family was not in a position to look after her. She was born in The Gambia – one of the poorest countries in the world.
But then her life changed – for the better. She was taken in by an SOS Children’s Village. Fast forward to the present day; Mariama, now a gorgeous little girl, is living with her new family – her SOS mother, brothers and sisters.
Setting a precedent in the baby clothes market, from babies with love donates 100% profit to its partner charity SOS Children to help orphaned and abandoned babies live, be loved and cared for, in dedicated children’s villages.
After just one year from babies with love is using its profits to support Mariama and five other babies across Africa and in India and Brazil. from babies with love also donates to two village nursery schools, in Zambia and Malawi.
Founder Cecilia Crossley was inspired to set up from babies with love when she became a mum: “my son Isaac was born just before Christmas time, so when the big children’s charities Christmas appeal adverts came on, with Isaac in my arms, I felt a new level of emotion, and more determined than ever to do something. Becoming a parent fuelled my belief that every baby should have a fair start in life, no matter where they are born.
I was out shopping for Isaac’s baby clothes when thought to myself: if I could buy beautiful baby clothes and know the profit helps babies in need, why would I buy anywhere else? The answer is I wouldn’t!”
