To schedule or not to schedule Tweets?

Now I am a fan of scheduling Tweets, however some may say that Twitter and Tweeting is about what is happening right now, but I think if you get the balance right then this a time saving thing to do.

Every Monday I schedule my Tweets using Hootsuite for the week ahead. There are many applications that do the same thing, Tweetdeck, Social Oomph, Seesmic (if you use a different one and would like to Blog about it then drop me an email [email protected]). For example in one week I would set up 3 tweets that link to my blog, 3 tweets that are asking people to sign up to my newsletter a couple linking to a page on my website re one of my Partnering companies, such as Call Team or to one of my services. Keep it interesting and mix it up every week.

Now as long as you never do too much and spread them over the days this will not be seen as hard selling, as don’t forget Twitter is not about selling its about building relationships.

With my scheduled tweets I always make sure I log on every day and give a mixture of:

Personal Tweets – are you watching a great TV programme or want to put a comment on the nice weather.

Conversation Tweets – ask your followers a question that is relevant to your business area.

Light hearted Tweets – these could be great quotes you have come across or funny videos/pictures you want to share with your followers

Retweet others Tweets – This is very important and starts to build the relationship between both parties, its lets them know you are interested in their tweet and want to share it. For example I retweet events and great blog posts from my followers.

What is your favourite person you like to retweet?
